Quote sync
Quote sync keeps an opportunity and one of its quotes updated against each other. Add products to either and the other record’s value follows.
An opportunity can carry several quotes but can sync with only one at a time.

What syncing changes
Quote Totals on the quote update as soon as Opportunity Value changes, and the reverse.
⚠️ Syncing replaces the opportunity’s existing value and products. They are overwritten by the quote’s, and the confirmation dialog says so: “Are you sure you wish to sync this quote and remove existing products and price book data from opportunity?”
⚠️ While a Quote is synced, the Opportunity Value is driven by the quote and cannot be edited by hand. Un-syncing restores manual editing, provided no Opportunity Products remain linked to the Opportunity. If any Opportunity Products are still attached, the value stays locked until you remove them.
Replacing the synced quote with a different one replaces the opportunity’s products with the new quote’s.
Stopping the sync breaks the link, and the two records stop updating each other.
Quotes and opportunities with no products at all can be synced. Adding a product to either then adds it to the other automatically.
Where to see what is synced
- The Synced Quote field on the opportunity’s Details tab.
- The opportunity name and the Syncing checkbox on the quote’s Details tab.
Fields that carry across
Standard and custom fields matching exactly on name and data type sync automatically.
A Quote Product custom field with the same name and data type as an Opportunity Product custom field receives that field’s contents when the quote syncs. Dependent fields are supported.
⚠️ A Quote Product field with no Opportunity Product counterpart is one-directional. It can be set and edited on the quote, but nothing copies back to Opportunity Products without a matching field.
Syncing and un-syncing
To sync:
- Open the quote record.
- Click Actions and select Sync With Opportunity.
- Read the warning about removing existing products and price book data from the opportunity.
- Click OK.
To un-sync, return to the quote’s Actions dropdown and select Stop Sync With Opportunity.
