Accessing an item using a unique ID number
Every Insightly record has a unique ID, which matters for standards compliance and for referencing records externally.

Why IDs matter
When you use standards like ISO 9001, your business operates best when you have ID numbers for your records. Each record within Insightly is automatically given a reference number that’s displayed in the URL and can be displayed in the record itself. You can also use this number to search for records.
Displaying the Record ID
Your Insightly administrator can enable the record ID number on each record from the System Settings > Record ID page. Once enabled, the ID appears as a field in each item’s details.
The administrator controls where the field appears by editing the Page Layout for each object (Contacts, Organizations, and so on). Removing the Record ID field from a layout hides it from that object’s records, and adding it back to the page layout makes the ID number appear again as a field in each item’s details.
