Dashboards & Dashboard Cards Guide
A dashboard is the page; each card on it holds one chart. This covers building both, sharing them, and the plan limits that apply.

Dashboards and cards
A dashboard presents your data as a set of cards. A dashboard without cards is empty; each card contains one chart drawing on your Insightly records.

Creating
Create a dashboard, then create cards and add them to it. Cards can be cloned, shared, filtered, and viewed independently.
ℹ️ A card added to more than one dashboard is shared: editing it in one place changes it everywhere. Clone it first if you want a variation.
Plan limits
Dashboards and dashboard cards are a Professional and Enterprise feature. The Plus plan does not include them.
Professional accounts can have up to 100 shared dashboard cards in total across the whole account, not 100 per dashboard. Drill down cards count toward that total. Cards that are kept private rather than shared do not count against the limit. Enterprise accounts have no limit on shared dashboard cards.
Organizing
Reviewing and organizing existing dashboards and cards keeps a growing set usable.
The Actions menu on an individual dashboard holds several organizing options beyond editing and cloning:
- Auto-Refresh Dashboard refreshes the dashboard automatically every 60 minutes so the most current data displays. When enabled, a checkmark appears next to the menu option. It is off by default.
- Lock Card Positions locks the position of all cards on a dashboard. When enabled, users cannot resize cards or change their position, and resizing the browser will not alter card size or position. It is off by default. Click the menu option again to disable it.
- Schedule Email Export lets administrators set up a schedule to export and email the dashboard. When scheduled, a calendar icon shows in the Scheduled column of the dashboard list view, and a banner with the schedule details displays at the top of the dashboard. An administrator can edit the schedule from the banner hyperlink or the Actions menu.
- Card Sizing uses the square icons at the bottom of the Actions dropdown to set all cards to a variety of sizes, small, medium, or large. This change is temporary; once you leave the page, cards revert to their previous size. To change a card’s size permanently, change each card individually.
ℹ️ A card displays data from 100 records by default. Adjust this with the Limit Rows field on the card edit page.
Drill paths
Drill down paths link one custom dashboard card to another so you can drill through a data set. Each card in a path links to and drills into the card below it. If a card does not already have a drill path, it becomes the parent card of a new path. When you drill from one card into the next, Insightly automatically applies a filter for the data point representing the X-axis value; filters and object type are also passed down, but they are not locked. Changing object types is not recommended, as it may cause errors.
Only charts and maps cards are supported in drill down paths. All cards other than the parent can be moved up or down to change the order. Drill paths are limited to 10 cards total; once the limit is reached, the option to add more is removed and the message “Maximum drill path limit of 10 cards has been reached” appears.
To create a drill path, navigate to Dashboards and select a custom dashboard (or select Edit Drill Path from the three-dot menu on a dashboard or card), click the Actions dropdown, select Edit Drill Path, then click Add New Card. A new card page loads with the same data set and the chart type and parameters from the last step in the path. Modify it as needed and click Save to return to the drill path page with the new card added at the bottom.
ℹ️ When cloning a card that has drill path cards below it, the Clone Drill Path dropdown lets you choose “Yes - Clone and link all Drill Path cards” (default) or “No - Clone just this card without the Drill Path.” Cloning an entire dashboard clones all drill path cards as well.
