Landing Pages
A landing page is a standalone webpage built for one short-term goal: a limited-time offer, a product launch, an event signup, a newsletter subscription. Visitors arrive from an email, an ad, a social post or any link, and the page converts them into Prospects.
Landing pages are built in the Designer Tool from prefabricated or custom templates, and automatically measure how many visitors arrive and where from.

- Using your own subdomain
Before you build one
Four best practices, in the order they matter.
Decide the goal first. Every landing page needs one goal and one call to action: join a mailing list, download something, request a demo.
Consider the audience. What does this visitor need to know to complete that action? Joining a mailing list, what will they receive? Downloading content, what will they learn? Where there are several audiences, several landing pages usually work better than one, since a Sales Manager and a Sales Representative join a list for different reasons. Templates are how you keep that manageable.
Write for the goal. A value-driven headline, concise body text, a clear call to action, and a footer with contact details.
⚠️ Keep the form above the fold. If the page has a form, the visitor should not have to scroll to find it.
Creating a landing page
- Go to Landing Pages and click New Landing Page.
- On the Setup step, enter the details. Landing Page Name and Page Title are required.
- On the Form step, embed a form or select Don’t Embed Form.
- Work through the Template and Design steps in the Designer Tool.
- Click Next, review the details, copy the page URL, and click Finish.
⚠️ The Active checkbox publishes immediately. Leaving it enabled on the Setup step means the page goes live the moment creation completes. Disable it if the page is not ready.
⚠️ No form means no Prospect data. A landing page without an embedded form collects nothing. The Submissions tab on the record lists form submissions, and stays empty without one.
ℹ️ Page Description is optional but worth filling in, because SEO uses Page Title and Page Description for the META description tags.
On the Form step, an existing form handler can be selected from the dropdown, or Create a New Form opens the Landing Page Form creation page.
Selecting a Form Handler for Landing Page
⚠️ reCAPTCHA does not work on landing page forms. See Form Handlers. A landing page form has the rate limit, the name-field URL check and the honeypot, but not reCAPTCHA.
Landing page actions
Reached from the three-dot menu in the list view or the Actions dropdown in an open record.

Editing
Select Edit This Landing Page.
ℹ️ Every save updates the page for anyone holding the link. Saving does not send anything to Prospects; they reach it through the URL.
Replacing a form on an existing page
This one has a specific sequence and does not work if you shortcut it.
- Remove the current form from the landing page using the Remove Form Handler link.
- Re-add it through the Embedded Form field, choosing the existing form handler option.
- On the Design step, delete the existing form.
- Drag and drop a new form from the content panel on the right.
- Save Design, then Next, then Finish.
Confirm Remove Form Handler Dialog Box
⚠️ Skipping the remove-and-re-add step breaks data collection. The source is explicit that the form handler has to be removed and re-added for future submissions to be captured correctly.
Cloning
Select Clone This Landing Page. The process matches creating a new page, prefilled from the original.
⚠️ Choosing a new template on a clone erases the cloned design. If the design is what you wanted to keep, skip the Template and Design steps entirely.
Saving as a template
Select Save as Template. Name and Folder prefill from the original landing page, and the design carries across to the new template, which then opens in the Designer Tool for customization.
Deactivating versus deleting
These are different and the difference matters.
Deactivate unpublishes the page and keeps the record, so it can be published again later. Disable the Active checkbox on the Details tab.
Landing Page Details Panel with Active Status
Delete unpublishes the page and deletes the record. Select Delete This Landing Page.
ℹ️ A deleted landing page can be restored from the Recycle Bin. If it was active when deleted, restoring it republishes it, live, immediately.
Landing page templates
A template is a reusable layout for pages that share a shape, such as product announcements. Built in the Designer Tool, then selectable at the Template step when creating a page.
Switch the view with the Landing Page Templates button on the Landing Pages screen.
Landing Page Templates Button in Insightly CRM
To create one, click New Landing Page Template, complete the popup including permissions, click Save, and design it in the Designer Tool.
ℹ️ The version history at the bottom left of the designer, alongside the back button, rolls back to a previous version.

⚠️ A deleted landing page template cannot be recovered and does not go to the Recycle Bin. This differs from landing pages themselves, which are restorable. Templates are not.
Using your own subdomain
Publishing landing pages under your own subdomain, rather than Insightly’s, keeps campaign publishing in marketing’s hands and tells the visitor something about where the link goes before they click it.
⚠️ This needs someone with DNS access. The source calls for a DevOps or infrastructure engineer familiar with DNS to add the CNAME record.
The terms
Subdomain. An additional part of your domain used to reach a different area. With a domain of insightly.gl and a subdomain of marketing, a landing page ends up at marketing.insightly.gl/landingpage.
DNS. Translates domain names into IP addresses so browsers can load resources.
CNAME. An alias for another domain, commonly used to point a subdomain at an external service.
Setup
- Create a CNAME record for your subdomain pointing at hosted.insightly.services. For example: Type CNAME, Host marketing, Destination hosted.insightly.services. If your provider’s own process isn’t clear, consult your provider’s documentation for adding a CNAME record.
- Verify it. A browser or a DNS lookup tool will confirm that marketing.insightly.gl points to hosted.insightly.services. The source recommends MXToolbox for this.
DNS CNAME Lookup Result for Custom Domain
Confirming a page is on your subdomain
- Create a landing page.
- On the Details tab, find Page URL, which holds the customized URL path. The source’s example path is demo/lp1.
- Combine your subdomain with that path manually, giving marketing.insightly.gl/demo/lp1, and use that as the link you distribute.
