Web to Contact / Web to Lead Forms
Build a form for your website that creates contacts or leads in Insightly on submission.

Creating a webform
Insightly generates HTML you place on your site. Submissions create contacts or leads, and each new record is tagged Web Contact or Web Lead so you can find it. Insightly can also send notifications when a new entry comes in.
Go to System Settings and select Web to Contact or Web to Lead, then tick the box to enable it. From the User Responsible list, select the Insightly user who will be listed as the creator of the record. For a Web to Lead form, choose a Lead source (this is ignored if you have Lead assignment rules enabled), then choose a visibility setting and click Save.
Scroll up and click Create HTML For Your Website to open the form builder. Select the fields you want from the list. For Contacts, First Name is the only required field. For Leads, Last Name, Lead Status, and Lead Source are required. Remove other fields with the trash can icon, and drag the handle icon to reorder them. If you have a custom Opt-In field for permission to contact visitors, include it here. Copy the HTML and paste it on your website.
In the Form Submission Behavior section, choose where to direct visitors after they submit: your own custom web page or the default Insightly thank you page (the Insightly page cannot be customized). Choose an email notification option, then click Save again.

Required fields and spam protection
To make a field required, edit the generated HTML. Find the field’s <input> line and, after type="text" but before /><br/>, add a space and type required. Repeat for each field you want to require, then finish creating your webform.
You can also hide a field by editing its HTML directly, replacing the input line with a hidden input type. This lets you create multiple webforms with different visible fields.
To reduce spam, add Google’s reCAPTCHA. Register your website at Google’s reCAPTCHA site and choose the reCAPTCHA V2 option (Insightly only supports reCAPTCHA v2). You’ll receive a public key and a secret key. Paste both into the fields at the bottom of the Web to Contact or Web to Lead page and click Save. If you’re setting up both a Web to Lead and Web to Contact form, you only need to do this once. Then regenerate the HTML and replace the code on your website.

Adding the form to your site
Specific instructions exist for WordPress and Google Sites, alongside the general HTML approach.
For WordPress, add a new page, choose the Text tab in the page editor, and paste in the copied HTML. Save the page, add any additional layout, text, or JavaScript validation, then publish.
⚠️ Insightly does not support websites hosted at wordpress.com. These instructions apply only to the full version of WordPress with a custom domain name.
For Google Sites, a bug causes HTML <textarea> fields to display incorrectly when empty. To fix it, add a newline/carriage return (not an HTML <br /> tag) between the <textarea> and </textarea> tags in your HTML.
⚠️ Google Sites renders HTML forms within a 400px by 300px IFRAME. If your form is larger than these dimensions, it will appear cut off, and there is no known workaround for this Google Sites limitation.
